As of January 2015, we have achieved our goal of raising and securing the funds to purchase our building! These funds came from more than 125 individual/family donors ranging in size from $5.00 to $5,000; local businesses; service clubs; as well as Urban Renewal funds from the City of The Dalles. This means that Wonderworks will remain at 206 Madison St. in historic downtown The Dalles for many years to come.
December 2015 update: Parking lot improvements are underway! The lot will be paved, landscaped and made safer for families.
Spring 2016: Parking lot complete! Beautifully paved, lines clearly marked for parking spaces
Fall 2016: Little Free Library installed in parking lot. Please check out our selection of children’s books, and resources related to children, families and parenting. You are welcome to take books and leave some for others!
January 2017: We had our two extra-large skylights replaced; this keeps our space bright and filled with natural light.
Summer 2017: Thanks to a local grant, we’re adding a room in our storage area that will give us a utility sink, washer and dryer and potential for staff kitchen space.
Summer 2018: Thanks to the kind and generous heart of one of the original founders of Wonderworks, we now have a beautiful new washer and dryer set, added to our recently completed utility room!
Future: We hope to upgrade the lighting to be more energy efficient, as well as provide better lighting in our storage room. We’d also like to get a bi-level hydration station for the Museum as our current water fountain is old and malfunctioning. Stay tuned for details!
